Breaking News
5/28/2012 We have changed our name and created a corporation
Our new name is Machine Neuroscience Technologies, Inc. This will more effectively differentiate our business and products from products related to Artificial Intelligence. Our products are patterned after the way the human brain actually works. Our hardware and software products can be interconnected to function like a human brain. In addition, our hardware and software products can function independently and add significant capabilities to projects you are already working on. Click on the Products tab and then the Hardware category to see the growing lineup of unique PC Boards available through our online store.
5/14/2012 Three New Products added to our Online Store
We have just added the Enhanced PIC Programmer, the Motor/Sensory Cortex Board and the VII Board to our Online Store under Hardware Products. If you encounter any problems using the Online Store, please email your order to machineinttech@gmail.com. And don't forget to visit our Page on Facebook for additional information and photos and videos of our products in action.
5/13/2012 Exhibit at the 2012 Austin Mini Maker Faire
Thank you to everyone who visited our exhibit at the 2012 Austin Mini Maker Faire on Saturday, May 12, 2012. We are working hard to update the website with information about the new PC boards we showed at the faire. Please check back later tonight and again tomorrow as we add updates to the website.
1/15/2012 MI-Droid Build on Facebook Page
MIT has a new Page on Facebook. On the new Page, Patti Allred will be doing a full video build of the MI-Droid, adding a new video weekly until completion of the project. We invite you to follow along. Enjoy building your new MI-Droid brain! Then connect it to an existing robot or build the chassis from scratch and teach your intelligent robot to talk, solve its own navigation problems, even how to plug itself back into an electrical socket at night to recharge it's batteries! "Like" us on Facebook to stay up-to-date with our progress. Enjoy the build!
1/10/2012 Robot Magazine Article by BETA Team Member
BETA team member, robot hobby enthousiast, and medical doctor, Dr. James Phelan has written an article published in the current Robot Magazine entitled "The Father of Machine Neuroscience" chronicling some of the past, present, and future of the BETA team's efforts in bringing Dr. Jim's machine intelligence technology to the masses with the development of the MI-Droid intelligent android brain. The brain can be attached to and made to control various robot body designs. In Dr. Phelan's case, he is using his MI-Droid brain to control his Stingray using only his voice. See the January-February 2012 Robot Magazine for the full article. Well done Dr. Phelan!
7/8/2011 Two-Day Online Machine Neuro Science Seminar
Dr. Jim is hosting a two-day online seminar during the month of August this summer. He is very interested in educating the next generation of computer scientists who will carry on his work when he is gone. With fourty years of experience in this field, Dr. Jim is the father of this branch of computer science. He wants to include everyone who is interested in his work and therefore, it is open to the public. The cost will be twenty-five dollars for the two days. Information is as follows:
- Dates: Saturday, August 13th - Sunday, August 14th
- Time: 10:00 a.m. Central Standard Time (for both days)
- Content Day 1: Machine intelligence theory, design, and implementation for true machine learning
- Content Day 2: Question and Answer session
- Cost: $25.00 for both days
- Registration: See right sidebar
7/6/2011 Beta Team Preparing to Test Custom Propeller "Brainstem"
Dr. Jim has designed a new board based on the Parallax Propeller that is currently being printed and will undergo testing shortly. It's purpose is to coordinate some of the lower brain functions such as the motor and sensory functions which each have their own PIC-AXE processor. Their will be a maximum of 64 PIC-AXE processeors per MI-Droid brain system.
In the MI-Droid brain system there will be three major processing systems. The highest will be cerebral functions, using DSPs from Freescale and Texas Instruments. The second will be the animal brain functions handled by the Propeller board and the European designed Vinculum proccessors, and the motor and sensory functions, which consist of the PIC-AXE processors which will be coordinated by the Propeller board.
Things are moving fast. The MI-Droid brain is becoming a reality.
2/15/2011 Beta Team Assembled and Working
Dr. Jim has now assembled the BETA Team. They are currently working on the Android Machine Neuroscience Brain project. Upcoming work includes the SRFE - Speach Recognition Front End board, affectionately named the 'surf' board by one of our BETA team members living in Hawaii. The team has also tested the memory expansion board or MEB.
1/12/2011 Dr. Jim is looking for a Beta Team
The basics are in place and it's time to start creaing intelligent machines! Dr. Jim is looking to form a BETA team that he can work with directly at this stage in development. Get started with the project during the next month and you can be part of that team.
The following is a statement from Dr. Jim:
As an important part of the BETA
team you must be informed. I shall from time to time share thoughts with you that
are part of the "Secrets of this Technology". Consider this; the only reason for
complex solutions to seemingly complex problems is the lack of in depth
understanding of the problem to be solved. When A problem is fully understood it
can be distilled to its simplest form and a fairly simple solution can be
generated. This may not make sense now but you will come to understand this
AXIOM.
One of the most basic and important principles in the human
brain and what allows this technology to mimic the human brain is ; the only
programming that we must do is to provide the machine with the ability to make
unique and mostly unpredictable interconnections between NEURONAL ELEMENTS in
response to applied internal (Cerebral Feedback) or external sensory stimuli.
This allows the brain to effectively program its self via generated synaptic
interconnections which represent the learned information. this machine ability
makes programmers irrelevant and no longer needed. This is far simpler
than you may or may not realize at this juncture. Either way this is what
happens in the neurobiolocical model and the ANDROID MACHINE NEUROSCIENCE brain.
It is not necessary to be able to predict what interconnections will be made to
make useful synaptic matrices. It is only necessary that the pathways be
repeatably activated for the same applied stimuli. Out of this comes order and
new thought pathways i.e. the ability to learn. This is one of the guiding
principles that governs the ANDROID BRAIN.
1/8/2011
A new kit is now available. It contains all the components needed to build the Front End for the Speech Recognition component of the Mi-Driod project except for the board itself. You could use a breadboard or a standard board with .1 hole distances. It is available from our Products page.
For more information check out the datasheet.
Next how-to article is availalbe right now, titled Andriod Brain 101. Dr. Jim takes you on a rivoting journey through how his speech recognition software works to mimic the way neurons in our brain interpret speech. The speech recognition source code and other supporting .spin files are availble for purchase!
In the next issue of Robot magazine the new Speech Recognition will be evaluated by independent experts and the reader will have a chance to see what their experiences with the project have been so far.
Highlights of the Android in Progress
A good debugger is essential to any project. We have developed one for the Propeller chip that . . .
We need memmory and to get it we have built a 2 Meg expansion board and added a data logger, but before we can use either of them we have to modify the Parallax Propeller Proto Board.
